Have you caught the Pinterest bug yet?

Hey! I'm pinning - how about you?

It has been almost eight weeks since I was officially welcomed into the Pinterest fold – just enough time to become a tad bit addicted to this new way of networking and organizing.  I now have 31 boards with over 1,000 pins that link to a wide array of websites.

Popular topics on many Pinterest sites that I’ve visited are about food, photography and fashion.  But anything goes, including vintage, movies, books, decorating, cars, parties, gardening, weddings, and DIY, etc.

Some sights and sounds of my early morning walk in the Twin Cities

There are open spaces where I walk, with a variety of trees that will one day be felled as new home construction continues. This photo was taken in the Lake Nokomis area in April, but looks very similar to what I saw today on my own walk.

Yesterday R.C.’s Twin Cities Beat was read in cities spanning  the United States as well as in these countries:  Canada; Costa Rica; Hong Kong; Indonesia; Kenya; Lithuania; Mexico; Netherlands; Romania, and Tunisia.  Thinking that it may be hard for readers in different parts of the world to picture the Twin Cities in the spring, I’m recounting some of the sights and sounds I encountered during the early morning walk that I took today.

What constitutes “early morning”?  That depends on the time of the year here in the Twin Cities – at mid-May it is most often very pleasant to be out walking between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 a.m.

‘Journey/Pat Benatar/Loverboy’ – owning the Grandstand on September 1, 2012

Rock fans should be ecstatic about this stellar lineup of performers!

Set lists aren’t available for the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand performances on the evening of September 1, 2012, but it would be pretty surprising if “Don’t Stop Believin’” misses the lineup of Journey selections.  And also “Open Arms.”

As for four-time Grammy winner Pat Benatar along with husband and lead guitarist Neil Giraldo – some likely songs are “Love Is a Battlefield,” “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” “Heartbreaker,” “Promises in the Dark,” and “We Belong.”

The multi-Platinum Canadian rock band, Loverboy, will also be part of the stellar performance lineup.  “Working For The Weekend,” “Hot Girls in Love,” “Turn Me Loose” and “Lovin’ Every Minute of It” are likely choices for their set list.

Plastic pot recycling – how gardeners can help rescue plastic from landfills

Rows and rows of plastic plant containers at only one nursery. Just think how many nurseries there are worldwide!

Plastic pot recycling – is this really a big deal?  Well yeah, it is for our landfills!  Minnesota gardeners will be purchasing thousands of plants in plastic pots this year, pots that can be reused if they are taken to a proper recycling location.  Plus, there are plastic trays and hanging basket containers that also do not readily decompose and remain intact in landfills for many years.
