Comcast ‘Digital Economy’ cable TV rates increased in February

When TV reception was new and less complicated!

Just when I thought I had a really great deal!  I posted an article on December 21, 2011 detailing how I had just subscribed to Comcast Digital Economy cable TV at the quoted price of $29.95 per month:

The “deal” became somewhat less advantageous for me on February 1, 2012 when the monthly rate was increased to $34.95.

I’ll probably stay with Digital Economy even with the rate increase – I dropped my wireless TV service accordingly in December and paid $19.95 to Comcast for installation of a cable box in my townhome in order to accommodate their Digital Economy service.

There never was a guarantee that the rate would remain at $29.95/mo.  Prices seem to be increasing everywhere.  But it is a bit of a bummer to subscribe to something at one rate and learn not much more than a month later that the rate will now be $5.00/mo more.

I wanted to update my readers on the increased monthly charge since I have had a ton of page views of my December 21st article.  (Hmm – maybe Comcast got so many inquiries and requests regarding Digital Economy from their subscribers that are paying for more expensive cable packages that they raised the rates)!

Recently I have also experienced increases in my property taxes; townhome association dues; automobile, homeowner’s and medical insurance policies, and electrical rates.  And it is only February.  Ouch!

I don’t even want to think about the $15+ trillion debt that the country is in!

  1. We just can’t win with the economy the way it is these days. Nice work, Ruth.

    • I’m watching my budget very carefully – I wish Congress and the President would take similar care with our tax dollars. rcj
