A hopeful sign of spring: Easter Bunny Photos will begin on March 9th!

Special events on the Mall of America® schedule in Bloomington, Minnesota for the week of March 4, 2013 include:

  • Toddler Tuesdays: Mixed Nuts, A Touch of Magic;
  • Katie Leaders Fashion Show;
  • “The Host” private meet and greet;
  • Macy’s Prom Fashion Show;

Tuesday, March 5

Toddler Tuesdays: Mixed Nuts, A Touch of Magic

The comedy duo, “Mixed Nuts” will visit Toddler Tuesdays. Guests will experience physical comedy, age-appropriate humor and uproarious audience participation. The twosome has tickled funny bones throughout the region with their special blend of hilarious hijinks that are guaranteed to produce side-splitting laughter among those ages 2 to 92.  (10 a.m. – Noon; Rotunda) 

Thursday, March 7

Katie Leaders Fashion Show

Several prominent St. Catherine University alumnae have been paired with current St. Kate’s merchandising students for a fashion challenge task of styling the alumnae with looks from Ann Taylor’s new spring line. The event will feature a fashion show highlighting the looks pieced together from Ann Taylor along with an encore performance of student ‘up-cycled’ designs from the 2012 Katwalk Eco-logic show where students took on an alternative material challenge with an intentionally sustainable focus.  (7 p.m.; Rotunda) 

Friday, March 8

“The Host” private meet and greet

Guests are invited to enter to win a private meet with Jake Abel and Max Irons, starts of the new movie “The Host,” the newest teen sci-fi thriller based on the book written by Stephanie Meyer, author of “The Twilight Saga.” To enter the contest, guests must visit the MOA blog. Meet and greet winners will receive an autographed movie poster, a photo with the stars and tickets to the advance movie screening at Theatres at Mall of America®. “The Host” is about a parasitic alien soul that has injected into the body of Melanie Stryder. Instead of carrying out her race’s mission of taking over the Earth, “Wanda” (as she comes to be called) forms a bond with her host and sets out to aid other free humans. Saturday, March 9

1) Macy’s Prom Fashion Show

Macy’s will host a prom fashion show with celebrity stylist and costume designer for Pretty Little Liars, Mandi Line. Line will discuss the hottest trends for prom while hosting the show. After the fashion show, guests can head to the Juniors Department in Macy’s and enjoy the IMPULSE cosmetics makeup bar where they can learn how to do the perfect smoky eye and red lip. There will also be a hair stylist on-site to assist with planning the complete prom look. Those in attendance will enjoy sweets and prizes from Macy’s partners Pinkberry and Cupcake and will receive 25 percent off any regular price prom dress on March 9 only.  (1 p.m.; Macy’s Court) 

2) Hunter in Focus - Through March 10

The first and only global photography exhibit to raise awareness of Hunter syndrome, a rare and progressive genetic disorder, will be on display. Photographed by Rick Guidotti, founder of Positive Exposure™, the exhibit will share the stories of individual patients to create a deepened sense of community and support worldwide.  (Mall Hours; Sears Court and Southeast Court) 

3) MDA Walk

Hundreds of guests will come together for the Muscular Dystrophy Association walk. For every dollar raised or donated, 100 percent will go directly to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Every step will help people throughout the Twin Cities community who are living with muscle disease.  (7:45 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.; The Patio) 

4) Easter Bunny Photos - Through Sunday, March 31

The Easter Bunny is on his way to Mall of America. Beginning Saturday, March 9, guests can come out and get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Peeps & Company will also be giving away special treats to those who visit the Easter Bunny.  (Sunday-Thursday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Friday-Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; West Market Square)

Sunday, March 10

Mallasana: A Celebration of the Twin Cities Yoga Community

The Rotunda in Mall of America will be filled with hundreds of yoga teachers and practitioners that will come together to break the world record for “Chain Yoga” (yoga with all participants touching). This event is part of a joyful, daylong celebration of the power of yoga to reduce stress, heal and strengthen the body, and summon peace of mind. Complimentary classes will be held from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.  (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Rotunda)
