1) Music Under Glass Sundays, March 10, 17, 24, 31, 2013

Beat the “winter-blahs” with some blues, bluegrass, and ballads in the tropical Marjorie McNeely Conservatory. For the second year in a row, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory has been presenting “Music Under Glass,” a free concert series inside the Conservatory’s two-acres of tropical gardens. Featuring a perfect blend of musical styling, “Music Under Glass” will showcase live, local musicians from 4:30 – 6:30 pm through March 31. Beer and wine will be available to purchase.

2) Camp Como Registration Opens March 6, 2013

Recipient of  Nickelodeon’s Parents’ Picks Award for “Best Day Camp”

Como’s camps focus on expanding each child’s appreciation for the natural world while meeting zookeepers and gardeners, having “behind- the-scenes” experiences and meeting Como’s plant and animal ambassadors up-close!

Camps are half-day sessions, but are set up so that all-day adventures are available by taking two camps in the same week within the same age group.

3) Winter Flower Show in the Sunken Garden ends March 17, 2013

The Winter show displays 2 rarely seen flowers in Minnesota, the Camellia plant, from which we get tea, and the Velthemia, which has a unique pink flower (think Red Hot Poker flower, but pink). The Hethor Giant Primula explodes with huge flowers that are very fragrant. The room has a very strong floral aroma from the Freesia, Oriental lilies, Paperwhite Narcissus, Cyclamen and Primula. Dicentra, with their delicate heart shaped flowers, gave the room an extra romantic feel during the Valentine’s Day holiday.
