What a deal! An upcoming Mall of America® Event will enable you to become a walking art gallery at the same time that you provide a pair of new shoes for a child in need – a unique twofer if there ever was one!
“Style Your Sole” will take place at the Mall of America® in Bloomington, Minnesota on Sunday, July 31, 2011. To get in on this offer, just purchase a pair of TOMS shoes from Journeys, Journeys Kidz or SHI by Journeys between 7/16 and 7/31/11 and have them customized by one of their local artists for free! (You must present a cash register receipt for your TOMS purchase).

The Giving Pair (from TOMS’ website)
”The Other Side of One for One™. A Giving Pair is the pair of shoes your purchase enables TOMS to give to a child in need. And giving responsibly is what TOMS is all about. We work with our Giving Partners to determine the sizes and quantities needed for the children they serve.
“The shoe that we give most frequently is a black, unisex canvas slip-on with a sturdy sole. Black shoes are required for school in many countries, and the sturdy sole allows children to run and play with their feet protected. We’ve found that the classic TOMS slip-on style works well, because when shoelaces break, many families cannot afford to replace them.”
Shoe Drops (from TOMS’ website)
“Shoe Drops are a unique program here at TOMS, where we invite staff, volunteers and other members of the TOMS family to go for about one week to a country where our Giving Partners are distributing shoes. Shoe Drop participants have the powerful experience of hand-placing shoes on children’s feet, engaging with a different and new culture and learning about the important work our Giving Partners do in their communities.
“And it’s way more than a trip. It can be a life-changing experience. TOMS began when our founder Blake Mycoskie was on a trip to Argentina and saw children there needed shoes. He was inspired into action – a decision that has affected children’s lives across the globe. Our hope at TOMS is that those who come with us on Shoe Drops will return home with a renewed sense of commitment to influencing their world for good.
“After returning, some of our Shoe Drop alumni have gone on to start non-profit organizations, travel the world with organizations like Peace Corps, and even start programs that help integrate service and global awareness into the daily operations of their existing workplaces.
“Since our first Shoe Drop in Argentina, we’ve sent volunteer travelers to many places around the world, including: South Africa; Rwanda; Ethiopia; United States; Haiti, and Argentina.”

What a cool event!
I think the artists will be kept very busy on the 31st – these one-of-a-kind shoes will be a hot item both that day and when they are worn about town by the proud owners. Hi again, Sherri – thanks much for stopping by! rcj
That is so neat.
Agreed, Susan! I love the idea that this company is providing free shoes for the needy – certainly a great way to give back to the world in a very personal and useful way for the recipients. rcj
A walking art gallery with shoes. Love it!
These shoes will spark lots of conversation in the coming months. rcj
