11/13/11: It is my pleasure to welcome another Guest Post newcomer to the “Beat” – Kansas resident Mike Oberg who has delighted his fans at Yahoo! Contributor Network with his many slideshows and other articles during the past 2+ years. His wife Mary Oberg and daughter Maria Roth are also contributors to Y!CN.
I got to know Mike a bit better through an interview that I conducted with him in January, 2010 via our Y!CN messaging system, with a follow-up interview in March, 2010. Here are links to those two interviews:
- My Interview with AC Contributor Mike Oberg
- A Question from Me to AC Contributors Lorraine, Mike, Karen, and Gayle
Mike maintains his own photography site, Oberg Photography, which showcases many of his fine photos of flowers, landscapes and animals.

11/01/11: A big welcome to Mike Powers who has contributed a guest post that has been published here on the “Beat” today. See: A Guest Post by Mike Powers: A Not-So-Excellent Shopping Adventure!
Mike lives in Maine, and he and his wife Delicia Powers were two of the many in the Northeast who suffered a recent power outage (in Mike’s case it was 40+ hours) due to the snow storm in that area. A slideshow from his website published on October 30, 2011: Scenes from Midcoast Maine – October Surprise!
Mike Powers has published a great many poems in many different styles over the past couple of years, which prompted me (R.C.) to publish this article on Yahoo:
Poetry: Writing Creatively in Five Different Styles - Contributors to Associated Content have the unique opportunity to publish creative writing including poetry. Learn the differences between haiku, tanka, free verse, sonnet and villanelle; follow links to examples of each style.
